Le père de Belle cueille une des magnifiques roses rouges. Immédiatement, il entend un grand fracas derrière lui.
Il se retourne et voit une bête énorme et effrayante se jeter sur lui.
La bête est furieuse et veut tuer le père de Belle.
Terrifié, le père se jette aux genoux de la bête et la supplie de ne pas le tuer.
Il pleure et raconte que la rose est pour sa fille, Belle.
Le monstre répond : ”Peu importe. La rose est cueillie, quelqu’un doit mourir. Si la rose est pour votre fille, votre fille doit mourir.”
Le père est désespéré. Il ne dit rien.
Le monstre continue: “Allez chercher votre fille et ramenez-la au château.”
Le père pense. “Je vais partir et ne jamais revenir !”
La bête est calmée. Il dit qu’en échange de la vie de sa fille, il donnera au père un coffre rempli d’or.
Le père fait semblant d’accepter. Il part en hâte et rentre chez lui.
Arrivé chez lui, il pense qu’il est sauvé. Il raconte à ses enfants son aventure.
Marie et Sophie sont furieuses. Elles n’ont pas de cadeaux, et leur père refuse de retourner au château chercher l’or de la Bête.
Elles disent à leur père. “Pourquoi refuser un coffre plein d’or ! Nous sommes ruinés ! Nous avons besoin de cet or. Amenez Belle au château et rapportez-nous l’or !”
Les fils ne disent rien.
Belle réfléchit. Elle dit : “Père, je veux aller au château. Nous avons besoin de cet or.”
“Tu n’y penses pas !” S’exclame le père. “Cette bête veut te tuer !”
Belle explique à son père qu’ils trouveront bien un stratagème pour récupérer l’or et ne pas mourir.
Les deux autres filles sont ravies. Les deux fils se taisent.
Après une nuit de repos, Belle et son père partent vers le château de la Bête.

Translation
Belle’s father picks one of the magnificent red roses. Immediately, he hears a great crash behind him.
He turns around and sees a huge and frightening beast throwing himself on him.
The beast is furious and wants to kill Belle's father.
Terrified, the father throws himself at the knees of the beast and begs him not to kill him.
He cries and says that the rose is for her daughter, Belle.
The monster answers: "Whatever. The rose is picked, someone has to die. If the rose is for your daughter, your daughter must die. ”
The father is desperate. He does not say anything.
The monster continues: "Go get your daughter and bring her back to the castle."
The father thinks. "I'm going to leave and never come back!"
The beast is calmed. He says that in exchange for his daughter's life, he will give the father a trunk filled with gold.
The father pretends to accept. He leaves in haste and returns home.
Arrived at home, he thinks he is saved. He tells his children his adventure.
Marie and Sophie are furious. They have no gifts, and their father refuses to return to the castle to seek Beast’s gold.
They say to their father. "Why refuse a chest full of gold! We are ruined! We need this gold. Bring Belle to the castle and bring us gold! ”
The sons say nothing.

Belle explains to her father that they will find a ploy to recover the gold and not die.

After a night of rest, Belle and her father leave for the castle of the Beast.
