Mini grammaire : Venir de + infinitif

How to express something that just happened? In English we use "just" followed by the verb in the past tense. In French we use the verb "to come" in the present tense, followed by "de" and an infinitive verb.

Example: You just ate an apple = Tu viens de manger une pomme.

"DE" becomes "D'" if the following verb begins with a vowel.

Example: Je viens d'écouter une chanson (I just listened to a song).

Translate the following sentences :

  1. Paul just had a French Lesson.

  2. You just took a shower.

  3. She just ate a pizza.

  4. We just went to restaurant.

  5. They just got their degree.

  6. Je viens d'écouter de la musique.

  7. Tu viens de boire de l'eau

  8. Elle vient de sortir.

  9. Nous venons de voir un film.

  10. Vous venez de cuisiner.

  11. Ils viennent de danser.
